A remote mining camp is a small town with an industrial site attached. It needs base-load power for crushers, pumps and workshops, quiet and reliable power for accommodation and offices, bright lighting through the night and, increasingly, charging for electric vehicles and machinery. MPMC is one of the few Chinese manufacturers able to supply generator sets, battery storage, hybrid power stations, lighting towers and mobile BESS chargers from its own factories, so a mining camp can source its complete energy system from one partner with one coordinated control platform.

Powering Each Zone of the Camp

      Construction and Process Zone

Containerised diesel generator sets powered by Cummins, Perkins or Baudouin engines with Stamford or Leroy-Somer alternators supply the base load. Paired with HBD-R mobile battery storage, from 30 kW to 610 kW, the generator runs at its efficient load point of around 75% while the battery handles fluctuations and motor-start surges. MPMC product data associates this pairing with fuel savings of up to 75% compared with running the generator set alone.

      Accommodation, Offices and Monitoring

GSB Series hybrid power stations combine slide-out solar panels, LFP battery storage and a genset in one mobile chassis, with outputs from 10 kVA to 120 kVA and 20.4 kWh to 112.5 kWh of storage. They supply residential camps, offices and monitoring systems quietly, with the genset starting automatically as demand requires, and up to four GSB units fit in a 20-foot container for shipment to remote sites.

MPMC HBL Series hybrid lighting towers deployed at a mining site.

      Site Lighting Through the Night

The HBL-600D-M X-Matrix hybrid light tower lights 18,200 m² with four 150 W LEDs at 200 lm/W, runs for up to 53 hours on its 8 kWh battery and reaches 420 hours of autonomy from its 130 L fuel tank. Optional HD surveillance cameras and 5G base station integration support site security and communications around the mine perimeter, while HSL solar towers cover areas where silent, fuel-free lighting is preferred.

Mobile Charging for Electric Machinery and Vehicles

As mines introduce electric loaders, trucks and light vehicles, BCH Series mobile BESS chargers bring fast charging to the working face without permanent infrastructure. The BCH-800-600 and BCH-500-1000 feature liquid-cooled battery packs suited to mines, UPS-grade AC output and C5 coating as an option, and every BCH reaches full operational status within 24 hours. For camps moving to cleaner fuels, MPMC’s 400 kVA methanol distributed power station combined with BCH units forms an integrated off-grid green power system for electric construction machinery. In Norway, a 2 MWh BCH system already charges electric construction machinery at a site with no grid access.

Each BCH unit can be recharged from the camp’s generator sets, battery storage or solar arrays, and also supplies AC power for workshops and temporary loads, from 200 kW on the BCH-600-400 to 500 kW on the BCH-500-1000.

In a UK case using the same genset-plus-storage approach, adding HBD-R storage extended refuelling from every 2 days to every 7 days and maintenance from every 10 days to every 60 days, the kind of improvement that matters most where every service trip is long. All systems are coordinated through MPMC’s self-developed SCADA, with real-time remote monitoring, maintenance alerts and Starlink satellite backup communication.
